The festival is religiously most important for the Hindus. At every Kumbh occassion, millions of Hindus take part in the celebrations. During Kumbh, more than 10 millions devoteed gather at the site. So many foreign tourists, Saints, priests, and yogis from all corners of world, gather to participate in Kumbh. There were 13 akharas that are allowed to participate in any Kumbh Mela and they have formed the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad with 2 representatives from each of the 13 akharas to manage the akhara-related affairs across all kumb melas and across the nation.

Vairagi Akhara - Followers of Lord Vishnu
Kalpwasis Akhara - Followers of Lord Brahma
Udasi Akhara - Followers of Sikhism
Akharas & their disciples show their strength & lavishness during the procession for Shahi Snan or Royal bathing. Akharas moves like an army with their disciples on horses & elephants, that's why it is called Shahi Snan.
